Spotlight on the Municipal waste contract sector includes the following key developments:
- The Herefordshire Council contract for a recyclable and waste collection service was awarded to FCC Environment at a value of £510 million. The contract commenced in September 2024 and is expected to run until August 2044. The contractor will support the collection of waste across 89,000 residential households and 2,100 commercial properties.
- Powys County Council confirmed a £17 million contract to manage and operate Newtown, Llandrindod Wells, Brecon and Lower Cwmtwrch Household Recycling Centres. The seven-year contract was awarded to Bryson Recycling and commenced in April 2025.
Spotlight on the Multi-disciplinary waste contracts sector includes the following key developments:
- London Borough of Richmond upon Thames awarded a seven-year highways term maintenance contract in November 2019 to FM Conway, valued at up to £98 million. The contract is due to end in November 2026 but has an option to extend for a further three years. It includes carriageway resurfacing, road markings, high skid surfacing, civil engineering and other related projects.
- Devon County Council confirmed Palm Recycling Ltd have been awarded a contract commenced in February 2025, for the recycling of paper from their district councils. The contract is valued at £455,000 per year and it is expected to run for three years with the potential to extend for a further 24 months.
