John Wainwright & Co Ltd, has recently obtained planning consent for the extraction of ~18.8 million tonnes of Andesite, near Radstock, Somerset. Andesite, a high PSV value aggregate used in road surfacing applications, is of regional and national importance, helping to support highway safety and infrastructure projects across the South West and South East, including London.
The PSV stone, located to the west of Stoke Quarry (part of the Moons Hill Quarry Complex will be extracted over a 27 year period, at a rate of 700,000 tonnes per annum. After site preparation the extraction of Andesite will commence in 2028/2029 with completion ~2056. Following material extraction, a further two years will be required to complete the processing and selling of material prior to decommissioning the plant and site restoration.

Ltd has been operating the Moons Hill Quarry Complex since 1898, supplying aggregates, asphalt and contracting services to the construction industry, local authorities and National Highways.
