Anually, BDS tracks and monitors contracts across the waste industry, providing clients with accurate and up-to-date information on current public sector contracts throughout Great Britain. The information offers market intelligence to organisations involved in bidding, subcontracting, or supplying services. It supports the identification of active opportunities, the monitoring of competitor activity, and helps provide a greater understanding of market dynamics across key waste management sectors.
BDS offer (1) an annual subscription to monitor public sector contracts and/or (2) an annual register of existing live contracts (as of date of publication)
- Annual Public Sector Contract Registers include detailed information including; awarding authorities, appointed contractors, contract durations, geographic coverage (county and region), and associated contracts.
- A Public Sector Annual Contract Subscription provides clients with up to date changes to public sector contracts on a monthly basis in addition to awareness of contracts currently at tender stage.
The Municipal Waste Contract Suite offered by BDS includes four different waste registers. Each register can be purchased separately or as a complete suite, allowing organisations to access the information most relevant to their business needs.

Below are some examples of recent activity, identified by BDS, in relation to each of the municipal waste contract sectors:
- Household Waste Treatment – In August 2026, a contract was awarded for the bulk haulage and treatment of residual waste to the Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Aberdeen, supporting the diversion of waste from landfill.
- Household Waste Disposal – Milton Keynes City Council finalised a 10-year contract for the operation and maintenance of its Waste Recovery Park in May 2026. The contract, awarded to SUEZ, includes the annual processing ~130,000 tonnes of residual waste.
- Household Residual Waste Collection – Harborough District Council are due to commence a new £50 million, 8.5 year, waste, recycling and street cleansing contract in September 2026 with FCC Recycling.
- Household Recyclate Collection –Bath & North East Somerset Council have sought to strengthen the councils recycling supply chain through a new multi-lot procurement for the collection and purchase of kerbside recycling materials. Agreements for this contract commenced in August 2026 and will run until July 2030.
