Allen Newport (SRC Group) has recently received approval for a state-of-the-art concrete batching plant at Cavenham Quarry, near Bury St Edmunds, and part retrospective approval for installation of associated weighbridge and office facilities.
Once operational the new facility will be capable of producing approximately 50,000m³of ready-mixed concrete each year and will be located within the quarry’s existing operational area. Operations will utilise around 95,000 tonnes of aggregates annually (supplied directly from Cavenham Quarry) and will include ~55,000 tonnes of Sand & Gravel and ~40,000 tonnes of recycled aggregates. To support concrete production, the facility will also import ~12,500 tonnes of cement. RMX operations at Cavenham Quarry will run in conjunction with the quarry planning permission, with all site processes ceasing by 2052.
This is one of many concrete and associated planning schemes identified last month by BDS as part of its regular monitoring of all 400+ planning authorities in Great Britain.
