The latest edition of the Housebuilders Quarterly Report (Q4 2025), published by BDS Marketing Research, illustrates an improving housing market in Great Britain as housing consents quarter on quarter increase by ~7,000 units.
The BDS Housebuilders Quarterly Reports provide a detailed analysis of housing consents on a quarter-by-quarter basis. The latest report (Q4 2025) includes a housing sector breakdown covering large-scale private housebuilders, public sector developments (council and housing association projects), and ‘other’ builds (i.e. individually financed and/or investment group developments). Regional data is provided on a national and county level, with distinctions made between the ratios of houses to flats and comparative, quarter on quarter and year on year insight analysis.
Key findings from the latest report include:
- Q4 2025 experienced a second quarter on quarter increase in housing consents (Q3 2025 ↑ ~9,000 units and Q4 2025 ↑ a further ~7,000 units). Houses accounted for over 70% of the total consents recorded in the identified quarter, an increase from Q3 2025.
- In Q4 2025 Public Sector housing achieved >4,000 housing consents. This is a third quarter on quarter improvement for the public sector.
- Vistry Homes recorded the highest number of housing consents in Q4 2025 followed by Taylor Wimpey Developments and Persimmon Homes. Portsmouth City Council achieved the highest number of public housing consents in the same quarter.
