July 2026 has seen an application for a proposed construction of a temporary ready-mixed concrete batching plant on ~ 0.54 hectares of previously developed land off in North Muskham, near Newark. The application, submitted by Mick George Ltd, includes aggregate storage bays, reception hoppers, conveyors, two cement silos, a batching and loading structure, a control cabin, drainage infrastructure and parking for concrete mixer vehicles.
The primary purpose of the plant is to supply concrete to the proposed A46 Newark Bypass works, which could require ~50,000 cubic metres of concrete. The facility could also serve housebuilding and other construction projects in the Newark area and permission is being sought for a temporary five-year period. Supporting documents indicate the plant would typically use ~150–200 tonnes of primary aggregate per operating day. At full operation, the plant is expected to receive ~11 aggregate deliveries and two cement tanker deliveries daily, while ~22 loaded concrete mixer vehicles could leave the site.
