BDS has recently published the Estimated Outputs of Ready-mix Concrete Companies in Great Britain’ report to provide information on the RMX industry in Great Britain. The report, published in December 2021, provides historical trends and estimates of outputs and market shares by individual RMX plant and by company for Great Britain in 2020.

In 2020, BDS estimate the RMX market in Great Britain to be ~21.1 million m³. Whilst total volumes have decreased in 2020 by ~16% when compared to 2019 the market share accountable to batching plants and on-site batching has remained similar in 2020 to 2019.

A total of 1,360 RMX sites were identified to be in operation in Great Britain in 2020 with the majority located in England followed by Scotland and Wales.

The latest report confirmed Breedon as the largest producer of RMX in Great Britain. In 2020 the GB RMX market was dominated by five major producers, Breedon, Tarmac, Hanson, CEMEX and Aggregate Industries, who between them accounted for 57% of the total RMX GB market.
