Estimated reserves of pits & quarries
This report lists all known land won sand and gravel pits and crushed rock quarries in Great Britain. Crushed rock is broken down into limestone, hardstone and sandstone. The report is available in total or by individual regions. Information includes an estimate of both consented reserves quantity and life for each site.
The tables are sorted by county within regions, with national summaries. Reserve figures are based on interviews with local authorities, published documents and information contained in planning applications. This is the only published source of information on site specific quarry reserves for the whole country.
The report identifies sites likely to close shortly which may provide development opportunities for companies in the industry. Details of planning developments for new reserves granted since 2000 are also included.
The report was last published in 2007 but will be updated during 2010.
